FAIRFIELD (CBS13) – Fairfield Police say that the two men shot by federal officers near a Fairfield Walmart Thursday were wanted suspects with lengthy criminal histories.

The two men shot were 27-year-old Fairfield resident Markell Davis and 33-year-old Suisun City resident Cory Davis. Markell’s history includes convictions for burglary and drug sales, while Cory’s history involves weapons and drugs convictions, police say.

Police were after Markell and Cory for two separate shootings that took place on Feb. 17 and 19.

Police note that it was Markell who was first shot while exchanging fire with officers near the Walmart at 2701 North Texas Street. Cory was the one shot by officers a half hour later. Both were wanted in relation to the same investigation.

Both Markell and Cory are being treated at the hospital for their injuries. Markell was released from the hospital Friday and has since been booked at Solano County Jail. Cory’s injuries are not life-threatening.

The investigation was being carried out by the U.S. Marshalls and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.
